腾慱会tengbo18:ISAC/CNST HOLD ACADEMIC SEMINAR ON THE ESSENTIALS OF EFFECTIVE SCIENTIFIC WRITING: FROM IDEA CONCEPTION TO PUBLICATION

The quest for developing the research skills, providing a platform for sharing experiences on the nuances in research and scientific writing among international students, The International Students Advisory Committee (ISAC) in collaboration with the College of Nuclear Science and Technology (CNST) held a Seminar on the Essentials of Effective Scientific Writing: From Idea Conception to Publication on October 26th, 2019, at the College of Nuclear Science and Technology, Harbin Engineering University.

The Seminar was well attended by over 45 International PhD and Master Students of CNST. The facilitators, Mr. Ala Ayodeji Adebisi and Mr. Khalid A.M Mohammed, PhD students of the College shared their experiences on the processes one has to follow in identifying and developing a research idea, transitioning ideas to scientific publications, technical writing tips and the integration of published article into one’s final thesis/dissertation.

To ensure participants understand clearly the concepts been discussed, the presenters used their published articles as illustrations. Participants had the opportunity of asking questions during the seminar presentations of which each presenter duly answered. At the end of the seminar, participants were given useful website links on digital tools for researchers, social network for researchers, journal finder, researcher’s identification, reviewer’s record system, Endnote X9 and school online library. Participants were also given relevant software and codes.

Mr. Ala Ayodeji Adebisi and Mr. Khalid A.M Mohammed were presented with certificates of appreciation endorsed by the College after their insightful presentations.

Participants took turns to express their appreciation to ISAC and the College for organising such an educative Seminar. They were hopeful of attending subsequent seminars or training workshops that will building on their knowledge base and hands-on skills in the fields of Nuclear Science and Technology.
