腾慱会tengbo18:The outstanding graduate of our academy, Pu Ning and Xie Tingliang, returned to our college to share their scientific research experience

On the afternoon of September 15th, the exchange meeting of excellent graduate once studied in nuclear chemistry specialty to share their achievements in studying and scientific researches was held in the 31#, room 370. Dr. Pu Ning and Dr. Xie Tingliang, majoring in nuclear chemistry in the Institute of Nuclear and New Energy in Tsinghua University, were invited to share scientific research experience in our college. Five professional teachers, all the doctoral students, postgraduates and class of 2015 undergraduates, totally more than 60 people attended this meeting.

The meeting was presided over by the Professor Jiao Caishan, who gave a brief introduction to the study and research experience of the two doctoral students and encouraged other students to learn from them.

At first, Dr. Pu made a report entitled The introduction of XAFS— principle, experiment and data processing”, then he respectively introduced the XAFS (X-ray Absorption Fine Structure), its principle, the XAFS experiment and the methods of data processing, and the process of his doctoral process. Besides, he also made an on-site demonstration of the use of the XAFS with the experimental data he had. Later, Dr. Xie shared his experience and perception in learning, scientific research and paper creation. In his lecture, the selection of literature, the design and operation of experiment, the processing of data and figures, the selection of journal, the methods of writing and the respond of rejection, etc., were all presented in detail. In addition, the two doctors also answered some questions posed by the teachers and students present, after which, they put forward some suggestions for students present in learning and doing research.

The two brilliant graduates of our school, who made a special trip back to school to share their experience in learning and scientific research, were invited by teacher Ma Fuqiu. Their speeches helped teachers and students in our college majoring in Nuclear Chemistry and Engineering know more about them and the direction and progress of research in Tsinghua University as well as their attitudes towards research. The experience shared is valuable for everyone, which will have a positive impact on their choices of life and professional research direction in the future.

Dr. Pu Ning,studied in the College of Nuclear Science and Technology of Harbin Engineering University from 2011 to 2015. He was one of the first batch of undergraduate students in Nuclear Chemistry and Nuclear Fuel Engineering. He once won the national scholarship two times, got the “three good” student of Heilongjiang Province two times, and he was also an excellent graduate of our college. Since 2015, he has been recommended to enter the Tsinghua University without examination for his PhD. He specializes in chemical engineering and technology, and his tutor is Professor Chen Jing, who engages in the basic chemical research linking with the post processing of spent fuel. His doctoral subject is the coordination chemistry of ions and ligands of lanthanide as well as actinide. He is mainly good at the studying and researching the coordination thermodynamics and the environment of solution system through spectroscopic titration and calorimetric titration, study-ing the synthesis of single crystals and characterization of lanthanide and the electronic, researching the electronic structure and spectroscopic properties of lanthanide and actinide through density functional theory.

Dr. Xie Tingliang is a doctor of chemical engineering and technology in Tsinghua University. He received a master's degree in nuclear fuel cycle and materials from Harbin Engineering University in 2015. His current research direction is the study of the hydraulics and mass transfer characteristics of nuclear pulsed column extraction; research, design and application of new micro extractormicro extractor countercurrent extraction , reverse extraction and magnification of its progress; fluid flow and transfer phenomenon of multiphase flow; micro reactor synthesis of MOFs and study on the adsorption properties of materials to the nuclides of waste liquid. He has published 5 SCI papers during his reading. He got the first class scholarship three times, national scholarship once and the first class scholarship of the design of nuclear power once in Harbin Engineering University.
